Last weekend while I was in New York I went to the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. For the past two years they have said it might be the last Mermaid Parade since Coney Island is going to turn into condos (bleh). I doubt it will really be the end of the parade though even if Coney Island does change.

I went in 2006 and had a fantastic time and took some photos that are still some of my favorites. This year’s Mermaid Parade was fun but significantly more crowded, hotter and sunnier, three things that I quite dislike. Either way though, I tried to get some shots even though we didn’t have the best spot. Here are a few of the shots and the rest can be found here.

While I have been at my sister’s place in New York we have accumulated a variety of candies, most of which have been strange Japanese chocolate/cookie mixes. Today we decided to make a wee stop motion animation using the Swedish fish and these little ice cream cones. It’s not my finest piece of work, but it was fun to do a bit of animation again since it’s been years since I last did any. Hopefully I will make some time to do some more animating in the future. In the meantime, here is the very wee animation (only 19 seconds).

For the past week (and for the next week or so) I have been in NY staying with my sister. Her place has lots of windows, most of which face brick walls and narrow areas between buildings. Here are a few of my favorite windows.

I did it again, I missed a week. I meant to post one of my enameled pieces again but before I knew it, it was Sunday and I failed. Anyway, to make up for it I am posting two enameled pieces this week. This past Tuesday was my last class but I am considering taking the summer class or better yet eventually setting up my own studio so I don’t need to go to a class to use a kiln.

The first piece is a similar design to one of my first creative projects but I think I like it better. Enjoy!
