Project #12: Cabbages Part 1
2I have been wanting to resurrect Pilkasiulas with my sister for a while now, but it is difficult when we are in two different places and doing two different things. So we decided to do our own thing for 2008 and at the end of the year we will see how things have gone and perhaps we will collaborate again (maybe with my brother too?). In the meantime I want to set up a shop on Etsy to sell what we have left in the Pilkasiulas “warehouse.” I have been trying to come up with a name and the winner is Rusty Cabbages. Why Rusty Cabbages you ask? Had my grandfather not changed our last name, it would still be Rastapkevi?ius, which to many people sounds like “Rusty Cabbages” . . . hence the name. I sketched out a few ideas for a logo, which are shown below. I am still not entirely sure how I will do the “rusty” part other than making it a rust color. If you have any thoughts on these as I try to develop them, let me know.
Sketch #3: Like in sketch #1a and b, the veins of the leaves would be less pronounced than I drew them

The first image is my favorite. Something as simple as a circle, you used the web / lace like qualities of the cabbage leaves to clearly convey the concept of “Cabbage”. very nice!
